CLT工場検査
7/3（金）に、先日仮使用の検査を受けた敷地にこれから工事を行う予定の事務所棟の材料の検査で、西条市を訪れました。
10年くらい前から県内でもJASS認定を受けたCLT工場が愛媛県に稼働をし始め、その頃からCLTの勉強はしていましたが、敷地が広い場所でようやく使用できる機会に恵まれました。
今回、構造的な取り組みとしては建物の水平構面(床の剛性）をCLTで負担することで、280ｍ2×２層分のコンクリートと鉄筋を木材（CLT４０枚）に変えている点になります。（このことは脱炭素への取組みになっています）他の部分では、水平ブレースという鉄骨造の床の補強に通常必要な筋交いもCLTを使用することで、すべて削減することを実現しました。建物の荷重も２層の床と天井にコンクリートや鉄筋を使用していない分、荷重が軽くなっており、基礎構造の軽量化にも貢献しています。今回は、物価が高くなっている建設費に対し、鉄やコンクリートといった素材を最小限にできるかということが、テーマでした。
CLT材を使用するメリットとしては、建物の荷重が少なくなることで、基礎構造を含めた全体の構造を軽量化でき、構造断面も最小化することができ、建築費の削減に貢献することができます。また、地域の木材を使用していることで、愛媛県から木材利用の補助金を受け取ることができます。設計と工事で木材利用の補助金が県から受け取れます。今回の480㎡の延べ床面積で、トータル700万円の補助金を受け取る目標で、完成に向けて取り組んでいます。（愛媛県では民間の非住宅の建物に対しても、近年補助金の支給制度が始まりました。）
今回の工場検査は加工の精度の確認のため、訪れました。工場で加工の担当をして下さっている（株）サイプレススナダヤさん（CLT企画部）の河渕さんにいろいろと工場内をご案内して頂きました。今回のCLTの部材も無事に加工の精度を確認することができ、来週の棟上げを安心して見守ることができることがわかりました。河渕さん、お忙しいところ、ありがとうございました。いろんな関係者の皆様のご協力のおかげで、工事が無事に進んでいます。（株）サイプレススナダヤさんは大阪万博でもCLTを供給している全国的にも有名な会社で、今回、私が設計した事務所建築のCLTの工事にも関わって頂いています。先日の、愛媛県の植樹祭でもCLTを使用したメイン会場の建物にも資材を供給されており、見学もさせて頂きました。そのような全国でも様々な取り組みに関わっている県内の企業の皆様にご協力いただいており、最先端の技術を導入することができています。

CLT Factory Inspection
On Friday 3 July, We visited Saijo City to inspect the materials for the office block due to be constructed on the site that had recently undergone a provisional use inspection.
JASS-certified CLT factories began operating in Ehime Prefecture around ten years ago, and although We had been studying the subject for about that long, We have finally been given the opportunity to use CLT on a site with sufficient space.
In terms of the structural approach adopted for this project, the horizontal structural elements of the building are supported by CLT, thereby replacing the concrete and reinforcing steel required for a 260 m² two-storey structure with timber (40 CLT panels). (This forms part of our decarbonisation efforts.) Furthermore, we have achieved a reduction in material usage by utilising CLT for the horizontal bracing, which acts as floor cross-bracing. The key challenge was to minimise the use of materials such as steel and concrete, the prices of which are rising, even if only slightly.
I would strongly encourage any companies looking to take steps towards decarbonisation to make use of CLT.
Ehime Prefecture also provides support for the use of CLT. Specifically, subsidies for timber utilisation are available from the prefecture. These subsidies can be claimed for both the design and construction phases. With a total gross floor area of 480 square metres for this project, we are working towards completion with the aim of securing a total subsidy of 7 million yen.
We visited the factory to verify the precision of the processing. Mr Kawabuchi from Cypress Sunadaya Co., Ltd. (CLT Planning Department), who is in charge of processing at the factory, kindly gave us a tour of the premises. We were able to successfully verify the machining accuracy of the CLT components for this project, and we now know we can look forward to next week’s topping-out ceremony with confidence. Thank you very much, Mr Kawabuchi, for taking the time out of your busy schedule. Thanks to the cooperation of all those involved, the construction work is progressing smoothly. Cypress Sunadaya Co., Ltd. is a nationally renowned company that is also supplying CLT for the Osaka Expo; they are currently involved in the CLT construction for the office building I designed. They also supplied materials for the main venue building—which utilised CLT—at the recent tree-planting festival, and I was given the opportunity to tour it. Thanks to the cooperation of local companies within the prefecture that are involved in such diverse initiatives nationwide, we are able to adopt cutting-edge technology. This has been an introduction to Ehime’s CLT technology, which I would strongly encourage clients—both within and outside the prefecture (including overseas)—who wish to take on the challenge of decarbonisation initiatives to consider adopting.
